SBE SERVER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR

SHORETEL version 11

ShoreTel Small Business Edition single processor servers shipped prior to June 2009 may not be equipped to

support ShoreTel Release 11 in case a customer plans to extensively use select features as described below.

For ShoreTel 11, the SBE server memory size must be 2 GB minimum for all server types.

 The following features may impact performance of an SBE system:

- Paging to multiple phones

- Workgroups

- Reports

If a customer plans to extensively use the above features on a single processor or single core SBE system, the customer should consider upgrading their SBE server to a server with dual core processor before upgrading to ShoreTel 11. See SBE Server Upgrade Program below.

If a customer already uses a dual core processor, or if a customer does not plan to extensively use the above features, the existing SBE server will be compatible with ShoreTel 11 provided the minimum server memory requirement (2GB) is met.

As a general rule, if an SBE system was working without issues with Release 8, 9 or 10 and its memory size is 2GB, SBE hardware will support Release 11.

Examples of extensive use of the above features would be: simultaneous paging to 10 or more phones, support of more than 10 workgroups, support of more than 10 agents or running web reports.

Note 1: ShoreTel does not offer SBE server memory upgrades for sale. Such parts may be ordered by contacting Dell directly e.g. Enter the following search at www.dell.com: "Optiplex 210L memory upgrade" to identify and order the required parts.

Note 2: Before contacting Dell, it is important that the Transfer of Warranty from ShoreTel to the customer has been completed. This paperwork is included with each SBE system that ships with a server.

SBE Server Upgrade Program

ShoreTel is announcing a new SBE Server Upgrade program. Customers whose SBE servers are not equipped to support ShoreTel 11 may want to consider this program.

Under the SBE Server Upgrade Program, the existing SBE customers can exchange their older SBE servers to the currently shipped SBE servers. The specification of the currently shipped SBE server is available in the SBE Partner Guide or in QMS under SKU 60010.

Customers are required to ship their old SBE servers back to ShoreTel for recycling.

Cost of the program is 625 Euro excluding vat  provided the old server is returned to TMTS within 30 days. If the old SBE server is not returned to TMTS within 30 days, the customer will be charged 950 Euro excluding vat instead of 625 Euro excluding vat. Since this is an RMA process, there is no partner discount for the transaction.

ShoreTel will assume the cost of shipment both ways.

SBE Server Upgrade Policy – required steps:

1. Generate an RMA request after you had e-mail contact with TMTS support, Select "other" for Item type and enter "SBE upgrade program" in Item Problems.

2. Upgrade will be processed via RMA and shipped as an advance replacement. New SBE server will come with UPS return labels and forms.

3. Advance replacement SBE server packaging box should be used to return the old SBE server back to ShoreTel.

4. Return should be made back to Shoretel within 30 days.
